Day 30 September 29th

Another rough day in Broken Hill. Caravan was rocking so much that we decided it was too scary to stay. Went up to the visitors centre in town to ride out the storm. Wind was 63kms an hour with gusts up to 85kms an hour. After our 3rd cup of coffee went and saw the silver mine. From there had lunch again at the RSL Club. Being safe inside was great. Decided to keep going and saw the Royal Flying Doctor service. That was wonderful. They had flown out that morning for an emergency. Unbelievable in the high winds. We went back to the caravan about 5 and the winds had dropped thank goodness. Not as scary but still have the roof clipped down. This morning the wind had lifted the roof so quickly clipped it down. Hopefully tomorrow the wind has died down enough to go up to the look outs in town.

Day 29 September 28th

Very windy day waiting for the storm to hit. Put the caravan roof down ready. Drove out to Silverton to have a look. Very old town where some famous films have been shot. Very interesting place. Great looking artist studios. It was so windy though so wasn't that enjoyable. Came back to the town of Broken Hill and had a walk around. Every corner had an old pub. We had lunch in one of them. Back to the caravan to prepare for the night. Not looking forward to it at all. Thunder and lightening starting now.We have decided to head home. Weather in Victoria  not nice either. Might have to do it in summer next time.

Day 26-28 September 25th-27th
A great drive from Alice Springs. Roads very quiet which was great. Stopped at free camps at Agnes Creek and the next night at Lake Hart again. Both were terrific spots. Today decided to drive all the way to Broken Hill. The weather in south Australia going to be terrible so will ride it out here. Today saw lots of emus and chicks. Goats and lizards. The caravan park here is packed.
School holidays has started.

Spent the day at the Desert Park. Saw the animals and plants of the desert. This was very good. In the afternoon visited the school of the air. It was fantastic to see the teachers in action. Kids so far away.

Tonight went up to Anzac Hill to view the city. Saw the light show on the McDonnell Ranges.

Day 23 September 22nd

Explored the West McDonnell Ranges. Travelled 132 kms to Glen Helen Gorge and then made our way back visiting beautiful spots on the way back. We had to drive across creeks and water ways. One road had so much water that we turned around. Didn't want to risk it. An other day of beautiful country.

Day 22 September 21st

Left Kings Creek Station to drive to Alice Springs. A guy at Uluru had told us a short cut along 99 kms of gravel road. We decided to give it a go. A bit scared as the first 15 kms were very rough. It got better thank goodness but just before we met the bitumen again we got a bit of mud. Thankfully we got through. We stopped about 5 kms up the road and realized our pipe at the back of the caravan had come undone and broke off. We also lost a connection under the caravan. Nothing too important. Stayed at the Top Tourist park which was very quiet. Beautiful weather again.

Day 21 September 20th

Another beautiful day. Drove to Kings Canyon. The first climb up the gorge was very steep. 200 metres straight up. I struggled a bit but eventually made it. We did the rim walk which took 4 hours. It was magnificent. The rocks looked so ancient. A very beautiful place. When we got back to the caravan wanted to do the blog but had no internet or phone coverage. Lit the fire outside and had a quiet night.
